BENCAZ, HAZEL MARGARET
A 7 year old boy shot and fatally injured his half sister at nearby Pumpkin
Center last Sunday while playing with a pistol.  Hazel Margaret Bencaz, 21,
died after being struck by a bullet fired by the boy, John T. Hudson, Jr.
The shooting occurred at the home of an uncle of the victim.  She had
accompanied her mother and stepfather, John T. Hudson, and the boy on a
weekend visit to Pumpkin Center.  A native of Maurepas, Miss., Miss Bencaz
had been residing in New Orleans about four years at the Hudson residence.
Funeral services were conducted in Maurepas cemetery, with the Poole
Funeral Home of Hammond in charge.
