Survivors are his wife, Mamie Mender of New Orleans, a daughter Mrs. Sophie Smith of New Orleans and sons, John Berner and Emile Berner of Ponchatoula, and Anthony Berner of New Orleans; two sisters, Mrs. Emma Fritz and Mrs. Lena Hummell and a brother, Emile Berner of New Orleans. She was born on Tuesday, May 24, 1932 in Donner, LA, daughter of the late Paul and Mabel Guillot Bergeron. A retired educator from St. Joseph Catholic School, Ponchatoula, having taught there for over 26 years. She was a member of the Silver Sneakers Exercise Club in Ponchatoula. Surviving are her daughter and son-in-law, Linda and Jim Sim; son and daughter-in-law, John and Claire Shubert Berner; and a son, Mark Berner; 3 grandchildren, Amanda, Kevin, and Bryan Sim; a sister, Bertha Ourso; and 2 step-grandchild, Chanel Brown and Christopher Richard. She was preceded in death by her husband, John A. Berner, Sr. ; a sister, Shirley Petito and 2 brothers, Harold and Carroll Bergeron. Friends will be received Tuesday, September 18, 2007 at Harry McKneely & Son Funeral Home in Ponchatoula from 11 AM until the 1 PM Funeral Home Chapel Service, conducted by Rev. Deacon Dutch Schanzbach. Interment will follow in the Ponchatoula Cemetery. She was a native of Chackbay. She is survived by two daughters, Sandra Bates and Rita Wall, both of Ponchatoula; a son, Albert Ted Bowman of Anchorage, Alaska; 10 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, Felix and Brigette Perque Trosclair; three sisters, Rita Trosclair, Lillian Poche and Hattie Boudreaux; and two brothers, Wilmer and Vergis Trosclair.
