Fred was an award-winning teacher of mathematics in the public schools of Utah and California, BYU and SMSU. He was also a successful owner of businesses in music and adult care in Neosho, MO. An avid reader, genealogist, and student of the scriptures, he also loved music, traveling and British sports cars. His skill in vintage home restoration brought beauty to his surroundings. He faithfully served in many leadership and teaching capacities within his church. In all, family was his lifeÕs focus as a devoted husband, father and grandfather. Surviving are his eternal love and wife of 57 years, Dorothy Bahe Bertch; sons, Daniel Frederick Bertch of Salt Lake City, UT, Patrick Rhodes Bertch and wife Elsa of Colorado Springs, CO, and Wesley Bahe Bertch and wife Michelle of Plymouth, MN; daughters, Betsy Jo Woolf and husband Doran of Denver, CO, Suzanne Andersen and husband Glen of San Antonio, TX, Jessie Redd and husband Joseph of Lolo, MT, Irene Plessinger and husband Lance of Mercersberg, PA, and Valerie Robinson and husband Brett of Longmont, CO, 31 grandchildren and one great-grandchild. He is also survived by two sisters, Charlotte Stebbins and Mary Katherine Andrews; mother-in-law, Irene Bahe and sister-in-law, Arlene Bahe, numerous nieces, nephews, dear friends and extended family. Preceding in death were his parents, Fred W. and Charlotte Mae Bertch; sisters, Madeline Fiester and Marjorie Geertgens; and granddaughter, Tara Redd. Friends of the family are invited to attend a Memorial Service in the chapel of the Amite Branch of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, 100 E. Factory St., on Sunday, November 13, 2011, at 5 pm. Private interment at a later date. Family requests any Memorial Donations be made to The Perpetual Education Fund of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints or charity of choice.
