She was 79. Visitation was at Harry McKneely & Son Funeral Home, Hammond, from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. Monday, with a vigil prayer service at 7:30 p.m. Visitation at the funeral home from 8 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. Tuesday. Religious service at Our Lady of Pompeii Catholic Church, Tickfaw, at 10 a.m. Tuesday, conducted by a Dominican priest. Interment in Tickfaw Catholic Cemetery. Survived by a son, Larry Bevere, Tickfaw; two daughters, Joanna B. Tucker and Rosemary Bevere, both of Tickfaw; five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; a brother, Michael Scardina, Tickfaw; and a sister, Rose S. Callicotte, Jasper, Texas. Preceded in death by her husband, John S. Bevere; parents, Peter and Mary Cardella Scardina; four brothers, Sam, Carlo, Joe and Tony Scardina; and three sisters, Mary Gennaro, Phyllis Giardina and Lucille Petrosky. ************************************************************************* Obituary published in The Advocate (Baton Rouge) on: 10/14/1998 BEVERE, JOHN SALVADORE A retired maintenance supervisor with Lallie Kemp Regional Medical Center, Independence, and a resident of Tickfaw, he died Monday, Oct. 12, 1998, at North Oaks Rehabilitation Center, Hammond. He was 77 and a native of Boston. He was a U.S. Coast Guard veteran of World War II. Visiting at Harry McKneely & Son Funeral Home, Hammond, 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. Wednesday, with recitation of the rosary at 7 p.m. Visiting at the funeral home, 8 a.m. to 10 a.m. Thursday. Religious services at Our Lady of Pompeii Catholic Church, Tickfaw, at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, conducted by the Rev. George Reynolds. Interment in Tickfaw Catholic Cemetery. Survived by wife, Guydia "Tiny" Scardina Bevere, Tickfaw; a son, Larry Bevere, Tickfaw; two daughters, Joanna B. Tucker and Rosemary B.
