Long Medical Center. She was 58 and a native of Independence. Visiting at Winnfield Funeral Home on Thursday, Nov. 15, from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Religious service at Hughes United Methodist Church at 10 a.m. Friday, conducted by the Rev. Diane Bentley. Interment in Port Hudson National Cemetery. Survived by her husband, Melvin Beverly; two sons, Melvin Corey Beverly Jr. and wife Carla A., of Katy, Texas, and Nicholas O. Beverly, of Baton Rouge; five sisters, Marguerite Rax and husband Richard, of Natalbany, Diane Patterson, Lucy Washington, Brenda Bell, and Melissa Williams and husband Kenny, all of Baton Rouge; two brothers, John H. Washington Jr. and wife Doris, and Emile S. Washington Sr. and wife Lisa, all of Baton Rouge; and two grandchildren, Corey T. and Quentin J. Beverly.
