She joined our Lord and Savior on Saturday, May 15, 2004, at Our Lady of Lourdes Regional Medical Center after courageously battling a protracted and debilitating illness. The Rev. Perry Sanders, pastor of First Baptist Church of Lafayette, will conduct the funeral service. The family requests visiting hours be observed on Tuesday from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m. and from 9 a.m. until service Wednesday. Graveside service at 3 p.m. Wednesday, May 19, 2004, at the Sharkey Family Cemetery in Amite. Dear Lord, we thank you for the precious gift you shared with us these 34 years and take comfort in knowing she is in your loving arms. Amen. Survivors include her loving husband, Jeffrey Billingsley of Independence; her cherished mother, Madge Cline Sharkey of Lafayette; mother-in-law and father-in-law, Charles and Nelda Billingsley of Independence; a brother, Kenneth Cline of Houston; two sisters, Carmen Sharkey of McKinney, Texas, and Donna Baker-Wright and husband Anthony of The Woodlands, Texas; a niece, Casey Baker; a nephew, Noah Wright; and paternal grandmother, Thelma Sharkey of Baton Rouge. She is also survived by an extended caring family throughout the Acadiana and Baton Rouge areas. She was preceded in death by her beloved father, Frank Thomas Sharkey; and her dear grandmother, Martha Lee Carmichael. Pallbearers will be Kenneth Cline, Mike Jeyusi, Ted Carmichael, Anthony Wright, Parrish Cline and Ken Arendt. Honorary pallbearers are Robert Cline, Edgar Cline, Oliver Carmichael and Earl Sharkey. *************************************************************************** Obituary published in The Advocate (Baton Rouge): 11/26/2006 BILLINGSLEY, MADGE BIGNER Madge Bigner Billingsley, a homemaker and a resident of Hammond, died Thursday, Nov. 23, 2006, in North Oaks Medical Center. She was 76 years old, born Tuesday, Feb. 25, 1930, in Hammond, daughter of the late Otto Morris Bigner and Evie Eunice Coates. She was a member of Eastern Star and Woodland Park Baptist Church. Surviving are two sisters, June B. Calkins of Pearl River and Linda B. Hutchinson of Springfield; a son-in-law, Larry Fannaly; two brothers-in-law, Richard Calkins and Roy Hutchinson; two grandsons, Kirt Koerin of Huntington Beach, Calif., and John B. Smith III of Hammond; granddaughter-in-law, Anne Marie Koerin of Huntington Beach; two great-grandchildren, Colin and Brendan Koerin; as well as many nieces, nephews and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, James E. Billingsley; daughter, Stephony B. "Stephi" Fannaly; brother, Emmett Bigner; and a sister, Azelie Rust. Friends will be received at the Harry McKneely & Son Funeral Home, Hammond, on Sunday, Nov. 26, from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Visitation will continue at the funeral home on Monday, Nov. 27, from 9 a.m. until service at 10 a.m., officiated by the Rev. Pete Charpentier and Rev. Randy Ray. Interment will follow in the Jerusalem Baptist Church Cemetery, Pumpkin Center.
