He was 67 and a native of Independence. Visiting at Gloryland Baptist Church on Friday, Nov. 17, from 10 a.m. until religious service at noon, conducted by the Rev. Rayford T. Iglehart. Interment in Roselawn Memorial Park. He is survived by his loving wife, Ollie Lee Bland of Baton Rouge; three daughters and sons-in-law, Gracie and McArthur Greensberry, Pamela and André Scott, and Cherie and Mark Terrio, all of Baton Rouge; two sisters, Veotis Moncrieffe and husband Wilbert of Baton Rouge and Arthemese Lindsey and husband Eddie of Palmdale, Calif.; Robert Cain, who was like a brother to him, and his wife, Peggy, of Houston; four grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister and a nephew. He was a member of the Gloryland Baptist Church Deacon Ministry and Senior Usher Ministry. He was also a member of Straight Life Lodge 304 and was a 33rd degree Mason. Kenny L. Bland passed away Saturday, Aug. 18, 2007, at the age of 67. He was a native of Magnolia, Ark., and a resident of Albany. Kenny proudly served his country with the U.S. Marines. His devoted wife, Shelby Bridges Bland, survives him along with three loving sons, Kenny Jr., Gerald and Michael Bland; granddaughter, Haley Michelle; stepgranddaughter, Jessica Renee; and two brothers, Leslie Carl and Johnny Calvin Bland. Kenny was preceded in death by his parents, Calvin Edward and Mamie Opal Collins Bland; along with a brother, Charles Edward Bland. Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the funeral service from the chapel of Brandon G. Thompson Funeral Home, La. 190 West, Hammond, on Wednesday, Aug. 22, at 11 a.m., with visitation beginning at 9 a.m. The Rev. L.C. Lord will conduct the religious service.
