SSgt Blandford served in the United States Air Force for twelve years. He was born on July 7, 1980 at Chanute Air Force Base, IL. He lived at Chanute AFB, Rantoul, IL, until he was five years old when his family moved to Keesler AFB, Biloxi, MS. In 1989, his family moved to Ponchatoula, LA where Lance graduated from high school in 1998. He went to Basic Training at Lackland AFB the same year. He became a fire fighter and served at Yokota AB, Japan and then Pope AFB, NC. Lance is preceded in death by his father, Marvin J. Galatas. A celebration of his life will be held at Salem United Methodist Church, Eastover, NC, on Monday, July 5, 2010 at 11:00 AM. His family will receive friends at Adcock Funeral Home in Spring Lake on Sunday, July 4, 2010 from 6:00 to 8:00 PM. Lance is survived by his wife, Autumn C. (Miller) Blandford of Fayetteville, NC; his mother, Beverly (Cunning) Galatas of Sharpsville, PA; a sister, Christina E. (Blandford) Borton and her husband, Tommy, and their son, Ethan Blandford, of Fayetteville, NC; and Charlie and Pepper of Parkton, NC. Memorials may be made in his memory to Salem United Methodist Church, 2165 Middle Road, Eastover, NC 28312 or to Fayetteville Animal Protection Society, P. O. Box 58195, Fayetteville, NC 28305.
