"SWEDE" A resident and native of Hammond, he died Friday, Sept. 28, 2001, at his residence. He was 81. Visitation at Harry McKneely & Son Funeral Home chapel, Hammond, from 1 p.m. Sunday until religious services at 3 p.m., conducted by the Rev. William Eubanks and the Rev. Jeffrey Fletcher. Interment in Greenlawn Cemetery. He is survived by his wife, Kathryn Robertson Blomquist of Hammond; a brother, Curtis Blomquist of Hammond, a sister, Sylvia Blomquist LaDew of Ponchatoula; and nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, C.E. Blomquist Sr. and Grace Alexander Blomquist; and a brother, Wilbur Clarence Blomquist. He was a longtime member of the First Christian Church of Hammond. He served in the Merchant Marines during World War II. He was a cattle farmer, long-time member of Dairymen Inc. and a member and former president of the Louisiana Farm Bureau. He was born on Monday, January 25, 1926, in Hammond. He was in the Merchant Marines during World War II, serving 2 years overseas. Mr. Blomquist was a member of the Oak Knoll Country Club and an avid golfer. Mr. Blomquist was a long time pharmacist and original owner of the Ozone Drug Store in Hammond. He retired from the Medi-Thrift Pharmacy in Ponchatoula. Surviving are his daughter and son-in-law, Debbie and Don Holtgren; son and daughter-in-law, Larry Curtis and Kathy Blomquist; sister, Sylvia LaDew; 4 grandchildren, Aaron and Lindsay Blomquist, and Ryan and Jason Holtgren; great-grandson, Hunter Holtgren; and sister-in-law, Kathryn R. Blomquist. He is preceded in death by his wife, Evelyn Newsom Blomquist; parents, Grace Alexander and Charles Edward Blomquist, Sr.; and 2 brothers, Charles "Swede" Blomquist and Wilbur Blomquist.
