Survivors include his parents, Robert and Gloria Blunt, Hammond; five sisters, Carol Moore, Kim Blunt, Shemitha Blunt and Alisha Kelly, all of Hammond, and Pat Blunt of Baton Rouge; four brothers, Dudley Sylvester Dock, McComb, Miss., David Blunt, Rock Hill, S.C., Kenny Ray Blunt, Baton Rouge, and James Smith, Atlanta. Visitation will be Friday from 6 to 9 p.m. at Greater Love Church of God in Christ, 407 Mooney Ave., Hammond. Herbert Wagner will conduct the funeral Saturday at 1 p.m., and burial will be in Holly Garden Cemetery. MJR Friendly Service Funeral Home, Denham Springs, is in charge. *************************************************************************** Obituary published in The Advocate (Baton Rouge): 12/8/2005 BLUNT, CAROLYN WEST Carolyn West Blunt died Friday, Dec. 2, 2005, at Piedmont Hospital in Atlanta of heart failure. She was 56 and a lifelong resident of New Orleans until Hurricane Katrina struck the Gulf Coast in September 2005. Mrs. Blunt obtained her bachelor's degree in elementary education from Dillard University and her master's degree in administrative supervision from Loyola University. She was a retired elementary school principal. Her dedication and passion for knowledge, truth and learning won her the love and respect of her students, teachers and peers. After retiring from the public school system, she continued to practice her craft by teaching catechism at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church. Prior to retirement, Mrs. Blunt was a member of the Principals Association of New Orleans Public Schools, the Association of Elementary School Principals and the Association of Curriculum Instruction. In addition, she held a previous post on the board of trustees for Metairie Park Country Day School. Mrs. Blunt is survived by her daughter, Roshawn A. Blunt of San Diego; son-in-law, Andrew R. de Guttadauro of San Diego; and an aunt, Gladys Martin of Hammond. She was preceded in death by her parents, Mrs. Caretha Martin West and Mr. Boatner West Jr.; and an uncle, Mr. James W. Martin. Service of Christian Burial will be held at Greater Turner Chapel Church, 875 Turner Chapel Road, Greensburg, at 11 a.m. Friday, Dec. 9. Interment in Turner Chapel Cemetery, Greensburg.
