A retired businessman, he died at 6:23 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 6, 2009, at his home in Denham Springs. He was 86, and a native of Ponchatoula. He served his country in the U.S. Marine Corps and retired from the U.S. Air Force. Visitation at Seale Funeral Home, Denham Springs, on Thursday, Jan. 8, from 8 a.m. until religious service at 11 a.m., conducted by the Rev. Lee Ostten. Burial at Evergreen Memorial Park, Denham Springs. Survived by two sons, Richard Jr. and Thomas Blystad; six grandchildren and several great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by his wife, Willie May Blystad; parents, Richard C. and Ellen Irby Blystad; six sisters and a brother. He was a member of Lockhart Road Baptist Church, Denham Springs.
