He was a member of the Greater Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church, active in Sunday school, a faithful member of the Sr. Usher Board, and willing to serve anywhere it was needed. Survivors include mother Marcia Ann Booker and grandmother Bernice Booker of Hammond, as well as siblings: Marqueitta Booker of Hammond and Ronald Booker of Houston. Also suriving are aunts and uncles, one devoted and faithful great aunt (Irene McGroney), and a host of cousins and relatives. He is preceded in death by grandfather Charles Booker, one uncles James Booker, tow aunts Joan Cox and Mary Short, and three infant uncles. Visitation will be at Greater Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church on Feb 27, 09 at 5-7 p.m. Funeral will be afterwards at 7 p.m., conducted by Dr. Samuel Brown, Dismissal will be on February 28 at 10 a.m. and interment in Mt. Retired U.S. Air Force Chief Master Sgt. Willie H. Booker, 82, formerly of Sacramento, Calif., peacefully passed from this world into the next on Monday, June 6, 2005, at the Yucaipa, Calif., home he shared with his daughter and son-in-law. Willie, born in Independence, lived life with a joyous spirit, touching untold numbers of lives in the United States and beyond as he traveled the world during his 32-year career with the Air Force. Willie is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Heidi and Randy Richardson of Yucaipa; sisters, Leatha V. Grant and husband Mitchell and Rutha Color and husband Booker T., all of Baton Rouge; brothers, Leroy Booker of Albany, S.D. Booker and wife Grace of Homestead, Fla., and Otis Booker and wife Nancy of Baton Rouge; and a host of nephews and nieces, including Lena Baham of Independence. He also leaves behind more friends, both old and new, than can be counted. Willie was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Willie B. Booker; son, Arnold Booker; parents, Isadore and Mattie J. Booker; and six sisters and two brothers who also greeted him in Glory. Willie had a distinguished career with the Air Force and shared with pride the history he personally witnessed as a young man who experienced the desegregation and civil rights reforms of both our country and the military branch he so loved. Willie was grateful for a life rich with, as he called it, "all the peoples of the world." Those left to cherish his memory are grateful for a life touched by the booming voice, contagious laughter and smile and the loving spirit that he shared freely with all who knew him.
