Her grandson, Rev. Thurman Boothe, of Terry, Miss., was one of those officiating. Burial was in the Joiner cemetery. Poole Funeral Home of Bogalusa was in charge. Mrs. Boothe was 88 years, 3 months and 17 days of age. Huston Freddie Boothe Sr., 85, a resident of Hammond, died Friday, Jan. 16, 2009, in North Oaks Medical Center in Hammond. He was born on Thursday, Jan. 25, 1923, in Covington. Mr. Boothe was a member and Deacon at Trinity Baptist Church in Pumpkin Center, and past grand commander of The Grand Commandery Knights Templar of Louisiana and past grand secretary of the Masonic Temple for the State of Louisiana. Surviving are his wife, Octavia Hoyt Boothe; daughter, Janet Boothe Lopez; three sons, Marshall Boothe, Huston Freddie Boothe Jr. and Gregory Boothe; three stepdaughters, Marie Davis, Sandra Oller and Cherryl Benard; twin brother, Hullan Doniece Boothe; 17 grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by his parents, Fannie Casan Willie and William Howell Boothe; sister, Thelma Nettie McKenstry; and brother, William Herbert Boothe. Friends will be received at Harry McKneely & Son Funeral Home in Hammond on Sunday, Jan. 18, from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. and Monday, Jan. 19, from 10 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. Services will be held at Trinity Baptist Church in Pumpkin Center on Monday at 1 p.m., with Dr. Randy Davis officiating. Lela retired as a registered nurse, having worked in the Hammond area most of her life. Her family admired her positive attitude and her desire to keep herself fit and healthy. She loved to travel and plant flowers but her greatest love was for her family. She is survived by two grandchildren, Meegan Young and Robert Young and three great-grandchildren, Ashlyn Duplechain, Paiton Young and Cade Young. Preceding Lela in death were her son, John Thomas Young and her husband, Floyd Boothe. A graveside service will be held at Carter Cemetery in Springfield on Tuesday, March 24 at 11:00 a.m. Rev.
