Alfred W. Booty, 63, passed away on Wednesday, Nov. 26, 2008, at his residence in Sandwich, Ill. He was born Sept. 4, 1945, in Amite, to Noah Booty and Ruth Parson, the fifth of 10 children. He married Janice Lee Lambert on April 16, 1965, in Woodville, Miss. Survived by his wife, Janice, of Sandwich; two sons, Alfred "AJ" W. Booty and wife Julie, of Bowdoinham, Maine, and Lance Booty and wife Brandy, of Gardener, Mass.; two grandchildren, Paige and Trey Booty; mother, Ruth Parson, of Louisiana; brothers, Jean and wife Patricia, of South Carolina, and Bobby and wife Marty, of Louisiana; sisters, Jacqueline and husband Dale Moffit, and Verria and husband Kenneth Russell, all of Arkansas, Charlotte Bradchaux and husband Curtis, of Texas, and Beth Hein, of Louisiana; and many loved nieces and nephews, neighbors and friends. Preceded in death by his father, Noah; brother, Larry; and niece, Charmin Polozda. He served in the U.S. Navy. He was a member of Sheet Metal Workers Local 21, Baton Rouge. In 1987, he moved to Sandwich and worked out of International Sheet Metal Union Local 73 in Hillside. He took an early retirement in September 2006 as a result of lung cancer. He was a devoted husband, father, PaPa and friend. He adored his cats, Missy and Gabby. An avid tinkerman, Alfred proudly helped neighbors and friends with many repairs. He had a witty sense of humor and was very opinionated, but full of knowledge and wisdom. He loved Wheel of Fortune and lottery tickets and will be sadly missed by those who knew him.
