Jr. was born on Tuesday, March 7, 1944, in Hammond. He was a retired police officer for the Ponchatoula Police after 33years of service. Surviving are daughters & sons-in-law, Amanda and Jeffrey Abbess, Kelly and Rob Brandon, sons, Chris McMahon and Brian Register. Also survived by 7 grandchildren. He is preceded in death by wife, Mackie Bovia, parents, Jerry and Ethel Bovia. Friends will be received Thursday, August 4, 2011 from 5:00 pm until 8:00 pm at Harry McKneely & Son Funeral Home - Ponchatoula. Services will be held at Funeral Home Chapel - Ponchatoula, Thursday, at 7:00 pm. Interment will be Saturday at 12:00p.m. in the Mitchell Cemetery. Survivors include her parents, Kirt and Lisa Kirkfield Bovia of Maurepas; one brother, Trevor Paul Bovia of Maurepas; maternal grand- mother, Ama Arabie Kirkfield of Bayou Barbary; and paternal grandparents, Eugene and Lynette Balfantz Bovia Sr. of Maurepas. Her maternal grandfather, Wilfred Kirkfield, preceded her in death. The Rev. Glen Reine conducted a graveside service this morning at Maurepas Cemetery. She was 75. Mrs. Bovia was born in Maurepas and lived in Chalmette for 30 years before moving back to Maurepas. Survivors include her husband, Kelly Bovia Sr., Maurepas; a daughter and son-in-law, Laura and James A. Wood, Violet; a son and daughter-in-law, Kelly Jr. and Rhonda Bovia, Meraux; a daughter-in-law, Dawn Cahall; five grandchildren, Jerry Therio Jr., Tanya and Leonard Landry, Morryne Bovia and Vana Wood; a great-granddaughter, Ashley Therio; a brother Lee Lewis, Thibodaux; and three sisters, Mary Simpson, Frost, Lorena Lebourgeois, Maurepas, and Virginia Jones, Ponchatoula. She was preceded in death by her parents, Aremtine and Joseph Lewis; a daughter, Brenda Bovia Therio; and a brother, Joseph Lewis. Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the funeral.
