He was born on Sept. 6, 1971, in Merced, Calif., son of James August Bowden and Sarah Lewis Lovro, and stepfather, Mark Lovro. Mr. Bowden was a member of Phi Kappa Phi scholastic fraternity, having graduated from Southeastern Louisiana University with honors. He was employed as a registered nurse with North Oaks Medical Center, Hammond, in the critical care unit. Surviving are his wife, Erin Crain Bowden; two sons, James Brock and Noah Russell Bowden; grandmother, Maria Theresa Bowden; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Warren Brock and Susan Dumas Crain; brother-in-law and spouse, Warren Brock III and Whitney Crain; sister-in-law, Charlotte Susanne Crain; niece, Elizabeth Susan Crain; and nephew, Shepard Townsend. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, James Bowden, Elmer H. Lewis and Maxine Lewis. Friends will be received on Tuesday, May 13, at First United Methodist Church in Hammond from noon until religious service at 1 p.m., conducted by the Rev. Joe Donakey. She was 82, born in Los Angeles, and raised in Vinton. She was a graduate of LSU in Baton Rouge, where she was a member of Alpha Chi Omega sorority. She was an active member of Immanuel Baptist Church in Hammond. She was also a member of several clubs and organizations, including the Hammond Garden Club, Needlepoint Club and Book Club. Survivors include her daughters, Jan Bowden Haydel and her husband, Camile "Butch" Haydel, and Billie Jean Bowden Haas and her husband, Hill, of Westport, Tenn; son, James Campbell Bowden and his wife, Janet Cutrer Bowden, of San Antonio; brother, William Russell Campbell and his wife, Charlotte, of New Braunfels, Texas; eight grandchildren, Sean Gaskin, Houston, Libby Haydel, Baton Rouge, Briana Bowden, San Antonio, Amy Gaskin, Beijing, China, Jay Bowden, San Antonio, Laura Gaskin, Birmingham, Ala., Anna Gaskin, Boca Raton, Fla., and Michael Gaskin, Westport; and niece, Carla Ann Campbell Heverly, Houston. She was preceded in death by her parents, Lucille Goode Campbell and Claude Russell Campbell, who were of Beaumont; husband, Bill Walker Bowden, who was of Hammond; and an infant daughter, Marianne Bowden. He was born on Oct. 28, 1927, in Huntsville, Texas, son of the late Leonard Hightower and Mary Walker Bowden. Mr. Bowden was a member and past president of the Executive Club of Hammond and numerous other organizations. He was also a retired real estate broker and recently retired chairman of the board of Florida Parishes Bank in Hammond. He was a member of Immanuel Baptist Church in Hammond, a graduate of Texas A&M University and served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. Surviving are his wife, Betty Campbell Bowden of Hammond; two daughters, Jan Bowden Haydel of Hammond and Billie Jean Bowden Haas of Del Ray Beach, Fla.; son, James Campbell Bowden of San Antonio; two sisters, Mary Martha Griffin of Lufkin, Texas, and Jackie May of Austin, Texas; brother, Gus Bowden of College Station, Texas; three grandsons, Sean Gaskin, Michael Gaskin and Jay Bowden; and five grand- daughters, Amy Gaskin Johnson, Laura Gaskin, Anna Gaskin, Libby Haydel and Briana Bowden.
