BOWERS, BERTIE IRENE McCORMACK 
New York City - Bertie Irene McCormack Bowers, 87, died Monday, Aug. 7,
2000, at Roosevelt Hospital in New York City. She was born in Ponchatoula
and was the daughter of the former pastor of First United Methodist Church
in Hammond. She attended Whitworth College in Brookhaven, Miss., and
Southeastern University. She is survived by two daughters, Janet Bowers and
Ann Shoemaker; and two sisters, Nellie Mae Black and Martha Schlicht of
Louisiana. She was preceded in death by her husband, William Alfred "Bill"
Bowers. A memorial service will be held Sept. 14 at the Park Avenue United
Methodist Church in New York City.
