(Bert) Branch; she was born in New Orleans on August 29, 1879; married in Ponchatoula and has been a resident of Ponchatoula since 1903. She is survived by three sons, Charles A. Branch of Hammond, John Alva Branch of New Orleans and Lucien A. Branch of Monroe; one sister, Mrs. Archie Loch of New Orleans. "MACK" Malcolm Lee "Mack" Branch Sr. passed away Thursday, Jan. 6, 2005, at 11:05 p.m. at North Oaks Medical Center, Hammond. He was 83, born March 11, 1921, in Smithdale, Miss. He was a resident of McComb, Miss., and a former resident of Gulfport, Miss. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, having served for 39 months, including two years in Africa, Corsica and Italy. He fought in three battles and held several citations. He was preceded in death by his father, Eugene Warrington Branch; mother, Blanche Garner Branch; three brothers, Willie J. Branch, Glenn Branch and Elwood Branch; and three sisters, Lanette Walker, Hilda Peters and Elaine Branch. He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Toni Burton Branch; two sons, Lee Branch of Baton Rouge and Bennett Branch of Summit, Miss.; daughter, April Clarke of McComb; two sisters, Dorothy Williams of Baton Rouge and Evelyn Owens of Augusta, Ga.; and a grandson, Christopher Branch of Baton Rouge. In 1949, he earned a degree in chemistry from LSU. He attended LSU on a full basketball scholarship and played for four years. He was a past president of the Mississippi Gulf Coast LSU Alumni Association, a member of the board of directors of the Pass Christian Isles Golf Club, served on the board of the Mississippi Gulf Coast Homebuilders Association and was a member of the Gulfport Yacht Club. Memorial service at Hartman Funeral Home, McComb, at 2 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 15. Burial in Hollywood Cemetery, McComb.
