He was 88. A native of New Orleans, he lived in Baton Rouge for more than 60 years. He is survived by his sons and their wives, David and Barbara LaRose Brandao, of Fredericksburg, Va., and Greg and Jody Philips Brandao, of Baton Rouge; and his sons' mother, Elaine Hill Brandao, of Baton Rouge. He is also survived by six grandchildren, Derek Brandao, of Palo Alto, Calif., Daniel Brandao, of Charlottesville, Va., Mark Brandao and RenŽe Brandao, of Fredericksburg, Erin Brandao Register, of Asheville, N.C., and Allison Brandao, of Hammond; as well as by numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a daughter-in-law, Susan Sills Brandao. Mr. Brandao was a World War II veteran who retired from Exxon's Baton Rouge refinery after a long career in the company's public relations department. Following his retirement, he earned a Ph.D. from LSU and spent time volunteering for Catholic High School, the Catholic Student Center at LSU and various public relations organizations. Among other honors, he was a recipient of the Public Relations Association of Louisiana's First Circle award in 1995. A memorial Mass will be offered on Saturday, Dec. 11, at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Baton Rouge at 10 a.m. As Mr. Brandao supported many philanthropic causes, the family notes that contributions to charity in his memory would be appreciated. ************************************************************************* File at: http://files.usgwarchives.net/la/tangipahoa/obits/obitssur/brandao.txt
