William Sherry Brannan, Sr., age 70, and a resident of Franklinton, died at 11:20 AM Wednesday, October 15, 2008 at Lakeview Regional Medical Center in Covington. He was a retired teacher and guidance counselor for Tangipahoa Parish School Board. He was co-owner of Hallšs Hardware and Building Supply. He had also worked 12 years as a drillings fluid engineer. He was a Southeastern Louisiana University Football Alumni where he also received his M.A. and B.A. degrees. Survived by wife, Genevieve Smith Brannan of Franklinton; son, Lt. Col. William Sherry Brannan, Jr. of Abita Springs; daughter and son in law, Callie and Clay Foreman of Covington; brother, Pat Brannan of Troy, AL; sister, Lois Marie McAliley of Chalsea, AL; six grandchildren, Kaitlin Brannan, Conner Brannan, Joshua Foreman, Jonathan Foreman, Caleb Foreman, Jacob Foreman. He was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas Rhody and Lois Strickland Brannan, II and a brother, Thomas Rhody Brannan, III. Visitation was held at Crain Funeral Home at 10 AM Saturday, October 18, 2008 with a funeral service at 2 PM Saturday in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Larry Archote, Rev. Percy Frazier and Rev. Steve Porter officiating. Burial followed at the Bethel Baptist Church Cemetery. Pallbearers were Joshua Foreman, Jonathan Foreman, Clayton Magee, Conner Brannon, Bobby Mcalily and Joey Brannon. Honorary Pallbearers were Bill Hopkins, Elbert Harris, Kenneth Magee, Johnny Reid and Chic Core.
