He was 44 and native of Independence. Visiting at Carney-Mackey Funeral Home, 1576 Robin St., on Wednesday, April 8, from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Religious service at New Sunlight Baptist Church at 1777 America St., on Thursday at 11 a.m., conducted by the Rev. Dale Flowers. Interment in Thomas Chapel Cemetery. Survived by his wife, Iris; mother, Shirley Gage; mother-in-law, Margaret Brady; father-in-law, Louis Washington; sisters, Carlas Wilson and husband Fredrick, and Sharleen Browden; sisters-in-law, Laura and husband Carlos, and Jermell and husband James; sons, Daniel Monta, Derrick and Steven, all of Baton Rouge, and Monta Daniels, of California; daughters, Desiree, of Baton Rouge, and Chauntel, of California; nieces, Christen, Ciana, Chasity, Fredericka, Hillary, Stephanie and Zora; great-nieces, Tyral and Tyriana; nephews, Charlie Terrell, Fredrick Jr., CJ, Zane and Joshua; great-nephew, Tyriell; two great-aunts, Mrs. Mary Myers and Mrs. Idell Jackson, all of Baton Rouge; four uncles and four aunts.
