Mrs. Maggie B. Brown was a faithful member of Israelite Baptist Church for more than 60 years and mother of the church. Before her illness, she was a member of the Deaconess Ministry (honorary member after failing health), a member of the Senior Choir under the leadership of the late Brother Sterling Price, a member of the Missionary Ministry, a member of the Sunday school, a member of the Kitchen Club, a member of the East Baton Rouge Parish Woman's Auxiliary, a member of Mars Chapter No. 48, a member of Baranco Clark YMCA and a great follower of the East Baton Rouge Parish Ministers' Mid-Day Worship Services. Mrs. Brown believed in the power of prayer for this is what sustained her for 87 years, along with her family, relatives, church family, friends and neighbors. She loved visiting the sick, praying for them and taking them bananas; she was vice president of the Traveling Bible Band Prayer Service and she was a faithful attendee at Israelite Baptist Church prayer and revival services.
