BROWNELL, CARLENE
"I have fought the good fight. I have finished the race. I have kept the 
faith." 2 Timothy 4:7. Carlene Travis Brownell went to be with the Lord on 
Thursday, Dec. 16, 2010. She was born March 17, 1941, in Gillsburg, Miss. 
She worked for many years at Movie Star Sewing Factory. She is survived by 
two daughters, Wanda Comeaux and her husband, Donald, of Maurice, and 
Brandi Brownell, of Plaquemine; a sister, Mary Rose Mahaffey and her 
husband, Roy, of Gillsburg; two sisters-in-law, Joann Travis and Ann Travis; 
five grandchildren, Robert Phelps, Donald Comeaux, Taylor Forrest, Madison 
Smith and Chloe Smith; a great-granddaughter, Gillian Newman; a number of 
nieces and nephews, and her beloved pet, Bingo. She was preceded in death 
by her parents, Felder and Beulah Mae Travis; three brothers, her twin, 
Carl, Irvin, and W.B. Travis; two infant brothers and a nephew, Wayne
Mahaffey.  Pallbearers will be Jerry Varnado, Tommy Mahaffey, John "Boo" 
Arabie, D.J. Cullen, Donald "Mozart" Comeaux and Brent Travis. Visitation 
at McKneely Funeral Home, Kentwood, on Sunday, Dec. 19, from 5 p.m. to 
9 p.m. and Monday, Dec. 20, from 9 a.m. until 1:30 p.m.  Religious services 
at New Zion Baptist Church, Kentwood, on Monday at 2 p.m., conducted by the 
Rev. Richard Sandberg. Interment in New Zion Cemetery. Kentwood.  For the
