She was 76 and a native of Tangipahoa Parish. Visiting at Harry McKneely & Son Funeral Home, Hammond, 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. Wednesday and after 8 a.m. Thursday. Religious services at the funeral home chapel at 9 a.m. Thursday, conducted by the Rev. John Taylor. Interment in Greenlawn Cemetery. Survived by a brother, Tom Thompson, Baptist; a sister, Frances Sullivan, Holden; and three granddaughters, Melanie Tower, Hernando, Miss., and Cindy Jenkins and Susan Kinchens, both of Hammond. Preceded in death by husband, H.L. Bruce; a son, James Erlo Bruce; two great-grandchildren, Chaz Simons and Destiny Tower; two sisters, Margie Carpenter and Ann Braun; and two brothers, Charlie and Lawrence Thompson.
