BRUCE, GLADYS THOMPSON 
A resident of Hammond, she died Wednesday, Aug. 5, 1998, in Flora, Miss.,
as the result of an automobile accident. She was 76 and a native of
Tangipahoa Parish. Visiting at Harry McKneely & Son Funeral Home, Hammond,
6 p.m. to 10 p.m. Wednesday and after 8 a.m. Thursday. Religious services
at the funeral home chapel at 9 a.m. Thursday, conducted by the Rev. John
Taylor. Interment in Greenlawn Cemetery. Survived by a brother, Tom
Thompson, Baptist; a sister, Frances Sullivan, Holden; and three
granddaughters, Melanie Tower, Hernando, Miss., and Cindy Jenkins and Susan
Kinchens, both of Hammond. Preceded in death by husband, H.L. Bruce; a son,
James Erlo Bruce; two great-grandchildren, Chaz Simons and Destiny Tower;
two sisters, Margie Carpenter and Ann Braun; and two brothers, Charlie and
Lawrence Thompson. Her daughter, Dorothy Marie Bruce Mullins, died in the
same accident.

BRUCE, LEAFY LAMBERTH 
A resident of Hammond, she died Monday, July 30, 2001, at Hammond Nursing
Home. She was 94 and a native of Alabama. Visitation at Harry McKneely &
Son Funeral Home chapel, Hammond, from 8 a.m. until religious services at
10:30 a.m. Wednesday. Interment in Pine Hill Baptist Cemetery, Sicily
Island. Survived by five daughters, Bertha Bourgeois, Fordoche, Bernice
Warner, Pensacola, Carrie Lea Pierre, Folsom, Frances Bruce, Breaux Bridge,
and Carolyn Wheeler, St. Francisville; a son, Curtis William Bruce,
Gulfport, Miss.; five sisters, Ruby Jones, Hurst, Texas, Nettie Jones,
Mobile, Ala., Nellie Brown, Jackson, Ala., Gladys O'Neal, Fresno, Calif.,
and Viola Chismar, Metuchen, N.J.; 32 grandchildren, 50 great-grandchildren
and a great-great- grandson. Preceded in death by her husband, Curtis
Andrew Bruce; three daughters, Betty Jean Bruce, Bonnie Joyce Baham and
Mazie Farlow; a sister, Bertha Lamberth; and two brothers, Nathan Lamberth
and Grover Lamberth.
