Thompson Funeral Home, Hammond, LA BRUNET, JARED PETER Jared Peter Brunet (December 15, 1975 - May 20, 2013), age 37 and a resident of Springfield, Jared passed away on Monday, May 20, 2013 at the Richard Murphy Hospice House. He was employed with the Department of Motor Vehicles as a supervisor. He was a loving husband, father, son and friend, whom will be missed dearly. Jared leaves behind his loving and devoted wife, Andrea Brunet, along with his adored children, Alex Peter Brunet and Abbigail Marie Brunet. He is also survived by his mother, Nora Mitchell and husband Richard. Preceding Jared in death were his father, Herman Peter Brunet; infant sister, Jodie; grandmother, Velma Noel; aunt, Wanda Harden; uncle, Alfred Brunet. Thompson Funeral Home. ************************************************************************* Obituary published in The Hammond Daily Star: 2/15/2009 BRUNET, ROLAND LOUIS, SR. Roland L. Brunet, Sr., 93 of Hammond died Thursday, February 12, 2009 at North Oaks Medical Center. He was born on Dec. 2, 1915 in Covington, La. to Nina and George E. Brunet. He managed his family furniture store in Ponchatoula for many years and was a well known strawberry grower. He was one of the first to successfully use a water sprinkler system to protect strawberry crops from freezing weather. For years he hunted and fished the swamps south of Ponchatoula. He loved animals, and he raised and trained Tennessee Walking Horses and won many show competitions throughout Louisiana and Mississippi. He also loved motorcycles and traveling, so he and his wife spent many years traveling the United States in RVs and campers. During WWII, Roland became a charter member of the Louisiana Coast Guard Auxiliary, and served as a boat operator in the Lake Ponchatrain area. He is survived by his wife Glennie Gill Brunet, and two sons, Roland L. Brunet, Jr. (wife Shirley) and L. David Gill. He is also survived by his grandchildren: Michael Kern (wife Beverly), Robert Kern (wife Kim), Katie Johnston (husband Jonathan), Jeannel Hudgins (husband Byron) Laura Landry (husband Malcolm), and Megan Brunet. His Great- Grandchildren are: Kristi Ann Kern, Amanda Kern, Courtney MaryAnn Kern, Michael Kern, Jr., Mason Spratt, Grace Landry, Joshua Hudgins, Garrett Johnston, Maggie Landry, Benjamin Johnston, Brady Johnston, Carrie Hudgins, and Christian Hudgins. One Great-Great Grandson: Preston Carruth. He was preceded in death by his parents, George and Nina Brunet, his wife, Mildred Cowen Brunet, two daughters, Mary Ann Brunet Kern (husband C.A.) and Judith Gill Spratt (husband Chuck), and a brother, Ralph A. Brunet, Sr. Services will be at Geisler Funeral Home in Ponchatoula, Monday February 16, at 10 AM. Pastors will be Rev. John Cook of Immanuel Baptist Church, and Dr. Rodney Taylor of Natalbany Baptist Church. Visitation will be from 8:30am to 10:00 at the funeral home.
