He was 49, a native of Independence and a resident of Loranger. Visitation at McKneely Funeral Home, Amite, on Thursday, April 9, from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Visitation resumes at the funeral home on Friday from 8 a.m. until religious services at 11 a.m. Interment in Lawrence Memorial Gardens, Loranger. He is survived by his wife, Connie Poolson Burnthorn, Loranger; daughter, Chelsea Brooke Burnthorn, Loranger; three sisters, Shirland Smith and husband Ken, Denham Springs, Brenda McNeal, Maurepas, and Lanell Sanders and friend Tom Jacocks, Zachary; mother, Dorothy Rodriguez Burnthorn, Loranger; numerous nieces, nephews and other family members. She was a resident of Belle Maison Nursing Home. She is survived by sons, Ronnie Burthorn of Hammond, and Gary Burthorn of California; daughter, Jackie Baker of Covington; and 4 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. Her parents, three sisters and five brothers, preceded her in death. Family visitation will be Thursday from 9 to 10 a.m. at Live Oak Missionary Church, Folsom, and will continue from 10 until the funeral at noon. He was a U.S. Navy veteran, having served our country in the Korean War. Roy was a mail carrier in Loranger for 25 years, a former mason and a member of the American Legion. He leaves behind his beloved wife of 38 years, Charlene Burnthorn; son, Chester Bernell Roberts; daughter, Melissa Burnthorn Scott and husband Donald; grandchildren, Chester Bernell Roberts II, Cameron Blake Roberts, and Alexander Roy Scott, along with a great grandson, Brayden Michael Roberts. He is also survived by his sister, Eloise Sticker and husband Ken, and numerous nieces and nephews. Preceding Roy in death were his parents, Robert Burnthorn and Lydia Allen OÕKeefe, and sister, Helen Shockley.
