"GEORGE" Retired from the Tangipahoa Parish School Board, he died at 9 p.m. Monday, March 13, 2000, at his residence in Amite. He was 71 and a native of Atlanta. He was a U.S. Merchant Marine veteran of World War II and served in the U.S. Army from December 1955 to December 1957. Visitation at McKneely Funeral Home, Amite, from 8 a.m. until religious services at 10 a.m. Wednesday, conducted by the Rev. Sam Leto. Interment in Amite Cemetery, Amite. Survived by his wife, Josie Ruffino Burrell, Amite; a daughter and son-in-law, Sharon and Dr. James A. Culotta, Gulf Breeze, Fla.; two grandchildren, Krysten Josephine Culotta and Chase James Culotta; three brothers, George Dewey Burrell, Marietta, Ga., James Lewis Burrell, Morrow, Ga., and Jesse D.
