ALBERT JEROME A retired minister of the Louisiana Annual Conference of the United Methodist Church and a longtime resident of Baton Rouge, he died at 5 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 30, 2001, at his home. He was 91, born Nov. 3, 1909, in Houston, Miss. Visiting was at Rabenhorst Funeral Home East, 11000 Florida Blvd., from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday. Visiting at Broadmoor United Methodist Church from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday. Relatives and friends are invited to the religious services at the church at 1 p.m. Friday, conducted by Bishop William Hutchinson, Dr. Alan Einsel and the Rev. Bob Burgess. Interment in Resthaven Gardens of Memory. He attended Southeastern Louisiana College in Hammond, where he played on its first football team, graduated from Centenary College in Shreveport and completed theological studies at Perkins School of Theology at Southern Methodist University in Dallas. During his ministry, he was pastor of Methodist churches in New Orleans, Trout, Urania and Ponchatoula; Elizabeth Sullivan Memorial Methodist Church in Bogalusa; Istrouma Methodist Church in Baton Rouge; and Houma United Methodist Church. While in Houma, he was selected the 1974 Terrebonne Parish Citizen of the Year. He served terms as the district superintendent of United Methodist churches in the Lafayette and Alexandria districts. He retired in 1980, after almost 48 years in active church ministry, and continued to minister in retirement, where needed, with an extended period of service to the Hammond United Methodist Church. A popular minister, he preached numerous revivals in Methodist churches throughout Louisiana. In retirement, he wrote two books, based largely on experiences and stories from his ministry, "You Better Believe and Now I'll Tell a Joke." He was preceded in death by his parents, the Rev. and Mrs. L.W. Cain; six sisters and four brothers. Survivors include his wife, Elsie Sensintaffar Cain, to whom he would have been married 64 years on Nov. 9, 2001; two daughers and sons-in-law, Harney and Evelyn Cain Alford of Baton Rouge, and Dr. Alan and the Rev. Barbara Cain Einsel of Zachary; a grand- daughter, Sandy Einsel of Winter Park, Fla.; three grandsons and their wives, Doug and Annie Alford of Baton Rouge, Greg and Chandra Alford of Knoxville, Tenn., and David and Chantelle Einsel of Prairieville; and four great-grandsons, Tyler, Peyton and Taylor Alford, all of Knoxville, and Orese Alford of Baton Rouge. Honorary pallbearers include Dr. Leon Dement, the Rev. Harvey Williamson, the Rev. Angus Carruth, the Rev. Don Hall, the Rev. Harold Babin, the Rev. Kenneth Reed and the Rev. J.J. Carraway. She was a native of Clinton, a homemaker and a member of the Deaconess Board of Israelite Baptist Church. She is survived by three daughters, Willie Mae Davis and Vivian Freeman, both of Hammond, and Bessie L. Smith of New Orleans; one son, Cleveland Carter of Los Angeles; two sisters, Rosie Bluntson of Inglewood, Calif., and Molly Sanford of Baton Rouge; eight grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
