Cedric Wendell Carey Sr., 32, died Saturday, Nov. 10, 2001, at his home. He was employed with Hunt Plywood Production and a U.S. Army veteran. He was a graduate of Southeastern Louisiana University. He is survived by his wife, Ulisa Carey; one daughter, Unjenia Carey; one son, Cedric Wendell Carey Jr.; one stepson, Tysea Arnez Carey; four sisters, Gaisha Hughes and Cherie Munson, both of Albany, Terrie Davis of Texas and Cherilynn Recard of Georgia; four brothers, Jake Johnson, Carlonynn Turner, Derrick Spears and Darrell Turner. He was preceded in death by his father, Jessie Carey; and his mother, Mattie Spears. The Rev. George Coins conducted the funeral today, and burial was in Greenlawn Cemetery. N.A. She was 93, a native of Hammond and a resident of Clute, Texas, and Newton, Texas, from 1957 to 1984. Visiting at Seale Funeral Home, Denham Springs, from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. Tuesday. Visiting at First United Methodist Church of Denham Springs from 2 p.m. until religious services at 4 p.m. Wednesday, conducted by the Rev. Leslie Akin and the Rev. Cleo Milano. Interment in Denham Springs Memorial Park. Survived by two daughters and a son-in-law, Rose Marie vanOppen, Stevensville, Mont., and M. She was a member of First United Methodist Church of Denham Springs and for more than 50 years, she was a member of Mystic Star Chapter No. 108 of Order of the Eastern Star. She was a troop leader of FUMC Girl Scouts and was always fond of children. She enjoyed needlework, tatting and crochet. Nelson Carey passed away peacefully into eternal rest on Sunday, April 28, 2013, at his home surrounded by family. He was 63, a single man, native of Baton Rouge and resident of Roseland. He leaves to cherish his memories: daughters, Lisa Hall and Takisha Parker both of Baton Rouge; Tamika Green, TX; son, Dominique Green, TX; sisters, Cornelia Carey and Judy Jones both of Baton Rouge; Helen Temple and Wilma Jackson both of Roseland; Idella Carey, Brooklyn, NY; Melvina Sterling, Landover, MD; brothers, Melvin Carey, Colo. Springs, CO; Larry Hunt, Acola, LA; Jimmy Lee Hunt, Amite. He will also be missed by his companion, Sally Drummond, Roseland; his aunts, cousins, nieces, nephews, other family members and devoted friends. Nelson was an Army veteran in the Vietnam War. He was a paratrooper, Airborne Division. While in the Army he was awarded the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal, Combat Inf. Badge, Purple Heart and Airborne Prcht. Badge. He enjoyed fishing and helping others. He was a man of strong conviction, but had a soft heart for family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ervin Carey and Estella Carey Hunt; a sister, Elaine Carey; a nephew, Preston Carey; aunts, Melvina Harris and Bessie Huff; a brother, Peter Hunt. Visitation at Richardson Funeral Home, located at 501 N.W. Central Ave, Amite, LA from 9:00 am, until service at 10:00 am, Wednesday, May 8, 2013. Services conducted by Rev. Eddie Braziel. Interment will follow in Port Hudson/LA National Cemetery.
