John Carrier was a 22 year, decorated veteran of the United States Navy, serving our nation in Vietnam and numerous overseas assignments. His duties included many underwater and ground level bomb disposal and salvage missions in the E.O.D. division of the Navy and served as an instructor and CPO. He retired from the Navy in 1982. After retirement, he worked as a horse trainer and showman; winning many ribbons and awards in Quarter Horse and Tennessee Walker exhibitions, he was owner/operator of his own gravel pit business and was also an 18 wheeler truck driver both local and cross-country. He also loved to "go fishin'." He is survived by his daughters, Deanna Allen and Mary Ward; sons-in-law, Douglas Allen and Eric Ward; two grandsons, Matthew Pirie and Jonathan Vann; his former wife of 34 years, Barbara McGuigan Carrier. Also survived by his eight siblings, Audrey C. Lanier, Ernest Carrier, Robert Carrier, Margie C. McGuff, Betty C. Goodwin, Bertha C. Crayton, Ida Nell C. Fanning, and Mary Alice Newman; and numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. He was born on January 11, 1993, in Hammond, Louisiana. Joshua was a Loranger High School honor student. He lettered in track and football and loved his country and studding history. He enjoyed hunting, mud bogging and four wheeler riding. Joshua loved his family and friends and enjoyed making them laugh. He will be sadly missed by all who knew him.
