She was born December 27, 1938 at the Touro Infirmary in New Orleans Louisiana. Her mother, Alberta Jennie Bodker Hawkins [16 Aug 1912 - 11 Oct 2000] was married to William Claiborne Hawkins, Sr. [23 May 1911 - 19 Nov 1979]. Her maternal grandparents were Albert John Bodker [15 Dec 1889 - 20 Jun 1944] and Sarah Caroline Bendix Bodker [01 Jun 1890 - 11 Mar 1974]. Carvalho on April 17, 1982 at Creek's Bend, Ponchatoula, Louisiana, her parent's home, by Dr. James Anderson. Carol received a BA, Education, from Southeastern LA University in 1965. She was a teacher and held a number of other positions. From 1974 to 1997 she was employed by Ciba-Geigy Corp. (now Syngenta) in St. Gabriel, LA. She started her career with that company in the Industrial Relations Dept. as a new hire and insurance coordinator. Other positions she held while with the Corp. were Lab Technician, Industrial Hygienist and finally Educational Materials Trainer in the Safety Department. She met her husband Manny while at work. She retired in March 1997 and subsequently moved to Dahlonega with her husband where they busied themselves in the continuing project of building their house and improving their property. She took up her many hobbies, oil and watercolor painting, hand work, crocheting, and gardening, but the one taking up most of her time and was her favorite is genealogy. She is survived by her husband; daughter Robyn Dean Carter Lewis, son-in-law John William Lewis, Jr., grandson John William Lewis, III and granddaughter Tessa Renee Lewis; brother and sister-in-law William and Margaret Hawkins and their children William Claiborne Hawkins, III and Suzanne Fuqua Hawkins; uncle and aunt James Edward Bodker and Audrey Loyce Hoover Bodker and their children Mary Bethany Bodker and James Edward Bodker, Jr.; cousins Albert Joseph Bodker and Dorothy Ann Bodker Furr. The family will receive friends from 6 until 9 pm on Thursday, March 21, 2013 and from 12 until 2 pm on Friday March 22, 2013 at Banister Funeral Home in Dahlonega, Ga. You may wonder why Carol's picture is 30 year's old. It's because that's what I see when I look at her and I want you to see it also. Goodbye sweetheart. I hope all your genealogy mysteries are now solved. I love you! *************************************************************************** File at: http://files.usgwarchives.net/la/tangipahoa/obits/obitssur/carvalho.txt
