He passed away at his home in Port Allen at 11:55 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 25, 2005. He was 80 and a native of Pierre Part. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II and a member of American Legion Post 160 in Port Allen. He was a parishioner of Holy Family Catholic Church, Port Allen, and an adorer at the church chapel. Visiting was at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Brusly on Thursday from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m., with recitation of the rosary at 7 p.m., led by Sister Emma Noel. Visiting at the church on Friday from 8:30 a.m. until Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m., celebrated by the Rev. Matt Dupre. Entombment in St. John the Baptist Catholic Church Mausoleum. He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Pauline Templet Cavaliere; five daughters and sons-in-laws, Joyce and Albert Bordelon of Ville Platte, Lucy and Elton Higginbotham and Brenda and Audy Bourgeois, all of Brusly, Judy and Kevin LeBlanc, Port Allen, and Frances and Pat Alford, Kentwood; two sons and a daughter-in-law, L.J. Cavaliere Jr., Addis, and Harvey and Cheryl Cavaliere, Brusly; a sister, Eve C. Mitchell, Port Allen; 14 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, O'Neil P. and Marie Berthelot Cavaliere; two sisters, Rita Cavaliere and Annabel C. Thibodeaux; and a brother, Larry Cavaliere. The family would like to thank Sister Emma Noel, Dr. Gerald Miletello and his staff, St. Joseph's Home Health and Hospice of Baton Rouge. He will be missed by his family and friends.
