CAWVEY, RICHARD H., SR.
Richard H. Cawvey Sr., 79 years old and a resident of Hammond, died 
Saturday, Sept. 9, 2006, at North Oaks Medical Center in Hammond. He was 
born Sept. 9, 1927, in Terre Haute, Ind., son of the late Homer Martin and 
Mildred Everhart Cawvey. Mr. Cawvey was a retired meat market manager for 
Kroger Co. for 36 Years, a U.S. Army veteran of World War II and a member 
of the American Legion Post in Hammond. Surviving are his wife of 53 years, 
June Spano Cawvey; son and daughter-in-law, Richard "Dicky" H. and Cathy 
Cawvey Jr; daughter and son-in-law, Kathy Cawvey Stevens and Wayne Stevens; 
and two grandsons, Joshua Stevens and Brett Stevens. He was preceded in 
death by five brothers, Robert, Eugene, Jack, Frank and Charles Cawvey. 
Friends will be received Monday, Sept. 11, at Harry McKneely & Son Funeral 
Home in Hammond from 9 a.m. until the 11 a.m. chapel service. Interment 
will follow in the Stevens Cemetery, Hammond. In lieu of flowers, 
contributions may be made to the St. Jude Children's Research Hospital,
