Mrs. Champlin was born in Chesterfield, Ohio 78 years ago. In 1918 she and her husband moved to Loranger where she has since resided. On February 21, 1894, she married Jay D. Champlin, and to this union four children were born: Edith, now of Nashville, Tenn.; Harley A., of Loranger; Mrs. George Hinkson, of Hammond; Mrs. Avis Wales, who preceded her in death in 1945. Her husband passed away in 1941. Besides her son and two daughters, she leaves five grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. Eva Thayer and Mrs. Lucy Squire, both of Chagrin Falls, Ohio. Services were held from Brown Funeral Home in Amite; religious services at her home church, Loranger Methodist, on Tuesday, October 25. Burial was in Greenlawn cemetery at Hammond. *************************************************************************** Obituary published in The Hammond Daily Star: 12/13/2009 CHAMPLIN, KENNETH RAY Kenneth Ray Champlin, 75 years old of Loranger, Louisiana, died Saturday, December 12, 2009, at Lallie Kemp Regional Medical Center. He was born November 2, 1934, in Hammond, Louisiana, son of the late Harley Champlin and the late Josephine Whitcome Champlin. Mr. Champlin was a dairy farmer for 57 years. Surviving are his wife, Johnnie Lou Meuret Champlin; 2 sons & daughters-in-law, Clifford & Patty Champlin and Michael & Gwen Champlin; 1 daughter & son-in-law, Dorothy & Randy Boyette; 10 grandchildren, Christopher and Jeremy Champlin, Shellie Pecararo, Amy Terral, Jared and Derrick Gill, and Haley, Sarah, Michael, and Stephen Boyette; 1 sister, Jeanette Grice. He is preceded in death by his brother, James Arthur Champlin. Friends will be received Sunday, December 13, 2009, at Harry McKneely & Son Funeral Home in Hammond from 6:00 P.M. until 10:00 P.M. and on Monday, December 14, 2009 after 8:00 A.M until services. Services will be held at Harry McKneely & Son Funeral Home in Hammond, Monday, December 14, 2009, at 11:00 A.M. Interment will follow in the Loranger Community Cemetery.
