She was 72. She was a native of Florida and resident of Baton Rouge. Survivors include a son, Roy Douglas Chappell of Baton Rouge; a sister, Thelma S. Edgeman of Lake Placid, Fla.; and two brothers, Dillon Sessions of Tallahassee, Fla., and A. Eugene Sessions of Florida. She was preceded in death by her husband, J. Robert Chappell; her parents, Willis and Roberta Easley Sessions; two sisters, Hazel Hancock and Addie Starrett; and three brothers, Elwood, Herman and Carl Sessions. Visitation will be at McKneely Funeral Home in Amite, Monday from noon until the funeral at 3 p.m. The Rev. Philip McDaniel and the Rev. Dave Gray will conduct the service. She was a lifelong resident of Hammond and a member of Galilee Baptist Church of Springfield. She is survived by her husband of 55 years, Brunell Chappell, her children; Brunell Anthony Chappell, Joyce Gayden, Chris Chappell, Kenny Chappell, Lawanda Tutt and Yolanda Norman; three son-in-laws and two daughter-in-laws; 21 grandchildren and 10 great- grandchilden. She was preceded in death by her mother, Ida Mae Butler; and grandson, Chris Chappell Jr. Visitation at Galilee Baptist Church Friday, Sept. 3, from 6-9 p.m. Funeral services will be at Galilee Baptist Church Saturday at 11 a.m. Burial will follow in Holly Gardens Cemetery.
