He was retired from the U.S. Navy . Surviving are his wife of 49 years, Edith ³Pat² Hoover Charbonnet; 3 daughters, Delaine Charbonnet and her fiance Steven Verdin, Michele "Micki" LeBlanc, Nanette Wetzel; 1 son, Jimmy Charbonnet and wife, Tammy; 9 grandchildren, Heather Vangilder, Kevin Thomas Warch,David Allen Verdin, Ryan and Dustin Charbonnet, Jodi Raiford, Courtney Delatte, Danielle Wetzel, and Joshua Wetzel; 7 great-grandchildren; 2 brothers, Kenny and Tommy John Charbonnet; 1 sister, Jean Anne Smith. He is preceded in death by his parents; 1 brother, Richard Charbonnet; and a niece, Yvette Charbonnet Myers. Friends will be received Monday, January 18, 2010, at Harry McKneely & Son Funeral Home in Ponchatoula, from 6:00 p.m. until 10:00 p.m. and on Tuesday from 9:00 a.m. until services at church. Services will be held at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Ponchatoula, Tuesday, January 19, 2010, at 11:00 a.m., with Fr. John Sims, O.P. officiating. Interment will follow in the Ponchatoula Cemetery. She was 88 and a resident and native of Ponchatoula. Visiting at Harry McKneely & Son Funeral Home, Ponchatoula, on Monday, Feb. 28, from 8 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Religious service at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Ponchatoula, at 1 p.m. Monday. Interment in Charbonnet Cemetery. Ponchatoula - Raymond D. Charbonnet, 45, died Sunday, Oct. 12, 2003, at North Oaks Medical Center, Hammond. He is survived by his mother, Annie M. Charbonnet of Ponchatoula; one sister, Pamela Norred of Ponchatoula; two brothers, Gary Charbonnet of Tickfaw, and Darrel Charbonnet of Ponchatoula. He was born July 21, 1925 in New Orleans, son of the late Leonce and Marie Colien Charbonnet. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, Council #4874, Ponchatoula, American Legion Post #47, Ponchatoula, American Heart Association and Chairman for the local Heart Drive for Years, and the Triangle T Club. Mr. Charbonnet was a retired banker from First Guaranty Bank, Ponchatoula branch, and a U. S. Army veteran of WWII. Surviving are his loving wife, Elaine Bourgeois Charbonnet, and a host of nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Harold and Leslie Charbonnet; a niece Katherine Coburn and a nephew Gene Charbonnet. Friends will be received Wednesday, March 1, 2006 at Harry McKneely & Son in Ponchatoula from 6 PM til 10 PM, and after 8 AM on Thursday until 10:15 AM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Thursday, March 2, 2006 at 10:30 AM with Rev. Justin R. Kauchak, O.P. officiating.
