The Lord called him home Tuesday, Oct. 4, 2011, at Our Lady of the Lake Regional Medical Center. He leaves to mourn his passing his wife, Marilyn Hills Charles; parents, Felix and Inez Charles; loving children, Eric C. Charles and his wife, Yolanda, of Baton Rouge, Devin L. Charles and Timothy Walker, of Hammond, Erika Charles Oguanobi and her husband, Chike, of Wylie, Texas, and Zena Weber, of San Laredo, Calif.; his grandchildren; three sisters-in-law, Annie B. Miller, of Baton Rouge, Martha and husband Van Miller, and Alicsha Kade, all of Hammond; two brothers-in-law, Timothy and wife Monica Hills, and Kentrell and wife Shaletha Hills, all of Baton Rouge; and a host of cousins, other relatives and friends. Viewing at St. Paul Baptist Church, 401 E. Colorado, Hammond, Friday, Oct. 14, from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Visitation resumes at the church Saturday, Oct. 15, from 9 a.m. until service at noon. He was preceded in death by his brother, Felix Ray Charles. There will be no viewing of the remains after the eulogy. ************************************************************************* Obituary published in The Advocate (Baton Rouge): 1/29/2005 CHARLES, FELIX RAY A resident of Baton Rouge, he died Tuesday, Jan. 25, 2005. Retired from AT&T, he was 51 and a native of Hammond. Visiting was at St. Paul Missionary Baptist Church, Hammond, from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday, Jan. 28. Religious service at the church at 11 a.m., Saturday Jan. 29, conducted by Rev. Larry Cross. Interment in Greenlawn Cemetery. He is survived by his wife, Janice Charles of Baton Rouge; his father and mother, Felix Charles Jr. and Inez Charles of Hammond; two daughters, Alexander Charles and Chanda Walker, both of Baton Rouge; one son, Robert Walker of Baton Rouge; one brother, Eric Lynn Charles of Baton Rouge and one grandchild. He was preceded in death by his grandfathers, Felix Charles Sr., and Jose Williams; grandmothers, Mary Charles and Sementha Williams Short. She will be missed by her son Rev. Michael (Chevette) Otkins, Sr. of Tickfaw, four grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren. She was a devoted member of Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church where she will be missed by many friends. She is preceded in death by her parents Tom and Mary Adams, her husband, Joshua Charles, daughter Geraldine Williams, and one great grand- child M. L. Lloyd, IV.
