The 84-year-old native of Tangipahoa died Saturday, Sept. 20, 2003, at Lallie Kemp Medical Center, Independence. Survivors include three sons, Ray Lee Chester of Independence, Benny Chester Jr. of Hammond and Edward Chester of Chicago; four daughters, Shirley Watkins and Edna Ross, both of Independence, Betty Louise Williams of Hammond and Patricia Boykins of Covington; 27 grand- children, 30 great-grandchildren and 15 great-great-grandchildren. Her parents, Ivy Ross and Fannie Ross; her husband, Benny Chester Sr.; and five sisters and five brothers, all preceded her in death. The Rev. Wilbard Jones will conduct the funeral Saturday at the church at 11 a.m. Burial will follow in Durbin Cemetery, Independence.
