The former things have passed away." Revelation 21:4. Wanda Ann Thomas was born March 2, 1950, to Mary Lee Thomas and Roosevelt Thomas, of Baton Rouge. She graduated from Southern University in Baton Rouge, where she earned a degree from the College of Education. She married Michael J. Clary, of Trenton, Mich., on June 7, 2007, and subsequently became a short-term resident of Trenton. Wanda was baptized on April 9, 1988, as one of Jehovah's Witnesses and was a dedicated and faithful servant. Wanda served in the Tangipahoa Parish school system for 36 years, both as a teacher and assistant principal at Tucker Elementary, until her retirement in October 2010. She had a love for children and learning and possessed immense patience, stamina, kindness and compassion for all of "her" children, parents and faculty. She had a glowing and humble personality which everyone loved and embraced. Sister Wanda Ann Thomas Clary will be deeply and sincerely missed by all who knew her. Sister Wanda Ann Thomas Clary, 60, departed from this life Sunday, Dec. 5, 2010, at Angela Hospice Inpatient Care in Livonia, Mich. She was a native of Baton Rouge and a resident of Hammond for more than 30 years. To cherish her memories, she leaves behind her husband, Michael J. Clary, of Trenton; loving and devoted sister, Anita M. Thomas, of Hammond; nephew, Kenneth Dewayne Matthews Jr., serving in the U.S. Navy, stationed at Norfolk, Va.; aunt and uncle, Mary Lee and John D. Thomas, of Baker. She also leaves behind a host of cousins, in-laws, distant relatives and spiritual family of brothers, sisters and friends. Sister Wanda Ann Thomas Clary was preceded in death by her parents, Roosevelt and Mary Lee Thomas. Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the funeral services at Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witness in Tickfaw on Saturday, Dec. 11, at noon, with visitation beginning at 10:30 a.m. Condolences and other information are available online at www.thompsoncares.com.
