Her husband, entrusting his heart to her, has an unfailing prize. She is girt about with strength, and sturdy are her arms. She reaches out her hands to the poor, and extends her arms to the needy. She is clothed with strength and dignity. Her children rise up and praise her; her husband, too, extols her. Many are the women of proven worth, but you have excelled them all. Gloria Anne "Pim" Gomez Clebert, 81, and the retired tax collector of Iberville Parish, died peacefully at her home surrounded by her family on Tuesday, Feb. 14, 2012. She was born in Pontchatoula on Dec. 31, 1930. She was the baby of 10 children. She moved to White Castle with her family in 1936. She attended White Castle School through the seventh grade. Her family later moved to Donaldsonville, where she attended Donaldsonville High School. In 1945, she and her family moved to Plaquemine, and she attended Plaquemine High School and graduated in 1948. She was very active in all sports, especially basketball and softball, was a cheerleader and had the honor and privilege of being voted the very first homecoming queen at Plaquemine High School. She met her future husband, "NuNu" in her senior year at Plaquemine High School, and they were later married on Feb. 4, 1951, at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Plaquemine. She was affectionately known to all as "Gram." She enjoyed cooking, baking, visiting and praying daily for all of her dear family and friends. She also enjoyed working, especially at the Iberville Parish Sheriff's Office. Although she retired in 1994 as the chief tax collector for Iberville Parish, she continued to work until last year finally ending with 36 years of dedicated service to the Sheriff's Office. She was a loving mother and grandmother, and the absolute joy of her life was spending time with her precious children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was a devoted and dedicated caregiver to her siblings, her parents, her husband and a multitude of other family members and friends. She will always be remembered for her strength, courage, kindness and compassion to those in need. She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Anthony "NuNu" Clebert; her father and mother, Sidney J. and Lillie Barlow Gomez; six brothers, Wilbert "Shimmie," Russell "Buck," Roland "Cookie," Emmanuel "Johnny," Sidney Jr. "Tanker," and Lewis "Stag" Gomez; and three sisters, Helen Gomez Noel, Betty Gomez Hopkins and Dixie Gomez Suffrin. She is survived by her four children and their spouses, Edward and Chryle Johnson Clebert, Denny Clebert and Eugene Bujol, Linda Clebert and Brian Chustz and Johnny and Mechelle York Clebert; daughter- in-law, Julie Alleman Clebert; 10 grandchildren and their spouses, Donnie Bujol and friend Natalie Nicole Buras, Kevin and Shannon Clebert Ganaway, Brent and CheriŽ Bujol Barbier, Corey and Kirsten Jackson Clebert, Ivan and Jennifer Bujol Cabrera, Dave and Kelli Clebert Corkern, Claiborne and Addie Chustz Duval, Joseph and Sandra Smith Chustz, Amanda Clebert and Nicholas Clebert; 13 great-grandchildren, Brennan Eugene Bujol, Caroline Arwin-Anne Wright, Patrick Joseph Ganaway, Sydney Lynn Clebert, Matthew Edward Ganaway, Brady Ambrose Bujol Ferachi, Cullen Michael Clebert, Cooper Michael Clebert, Colette Marie Clebert, Chloe Elizabeth Corkern, Luke Joseph Duval, Evan Edward Bujol, and Caleb Owen Corkern. She was a member of St. Clement of Rome Church Parish and St. John the Evangelist Church Parish, where she was instrumental in baking cookies, preparing food and decorating the beautiful St. Joseph Altars. She was also a member of the St. John Altar Society, the Louisiana Peace Officer's Association, the Louisiana Sheriff's Office Association and the St. John Father's Club. Pallbearers will be her sons, Edward Joseph "SuSu" Clebert and Emmanuel Joseph "Johnny" Clebert; sons-in-law, Donald Eugene Bujol Sr. and Brian Joseph Chustz; and grandsons, Donald Eugene Bujol Jr., Corey Michael Clebert, Joseph Anthony Clebert Chustz and Nicholas Anthony Clebert. Honorary Pallbearers are grandsons, Kevin Ganaway, Brent Barbier, Ivan Cabrera, Dave Corkern, Claiborne Duval; and great-grandsons Evan Bujol, Patrick Ganaway, Matthew Ganaway, Brennan Bujol, Brady Bujol Ferachi, Cullen Clebert, Cooper Clebert, Caleb Corkern, Luke Duval; Sheriff Brent Allain and all deputies of the Iberville Parish Sheriff's Office; and special friends, Catherine Willis Ferachi and Gloria Orcino Landry. The entire Clebert Family wishes to extend humble and heartfelt thanks to Dr. Gerald Miletello and staff, Dr. Steven Gremillion and staff, Dr. Douglas Walsh and staff, Dr. Brian Gremillion and staff, Mr. Dan Lennie and the Plaquemine Unit of Acadian Ambulance Service, Sheriff Brent Allain and the staff of the Iberville Parish Sheriff's Department, the Comfort Care Hospice Staff, especially Michael and John Barbee, Kelly Gourgues and Liz Spencer and her angel companions, Tasha Grantham, Irene Robertson, Diane Starks, Gertie Starks and ReRe Peavy for the overwhelming amount of love, support and care offered during their mother's extended illness. Visitation at Wilbert Funeral Home in Plaquemine on Friday, Feb. 17 from 5:30 p.m. until 8 p.m. Visitation resumes at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, Plaquemine, on Saturday, Feb. 18, from 8 a.m. until Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m., celebrated by the Rev. Cleo Milano.
