He was 76. Visiting at Harry McKneely & Son Funeral Home in Hammond on July 24, 2001, from 6 p.m. until 10 p.m., with 7 p.m. vigil service. Religious services Wednesday at Our Lady of Pompeii Catholic Church in Tickfaw from 8:30 a.m. until Mass at 10 a.m. Interment in Port Hudson National Cemetery in Zachary. He is survived by his wife, Donna Arnold Clyde of Loranger; four daughters, Colleen Helen Smith and Eileen Anderson, both of Prairieville, Kathleen Berry of Baton Rouge and Mary Brewer of Bush; six grandchildren, Christopher and Amber Berry, Colby Summrall, Erin and Nathan Schaffield and Robin Schaffield Minx; and two great-grandchildren, Olivia and Reuben Francois II. Preceded in death by his parents, Frank E. and Bertha Mae McGonigal Clyde; and a sister, Eileen Ghormley. He was a retired traffic manager for International Trade/Ocean Services, Port of New Orleans, a member of the board of directors of Latin American Chamber of Commerce, New Orleans, a member of the Knights of Columbus Our Lady of Pompeii Council 11060, Tickfaw, and a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, having served in the European Theater with the 53rd Armored Infantry/4th Armored Division and Gen. Patton s Third Army, earning combat infantry badge, expert TSMG, expert M-1, American Theater Service Medal, EAME Service Medal (one Battle Star), Good Conduct Medal and the Victory Medal. ***************************************************************************
