She was 80 and a native of Amite. Mrs. Cockrell was retired from the East Baton Rouge Parish school system, having taught for nearly 35 years. Survived by her son, Clarence "Ed" Cockrell III and wife Jackie Cockrell; daughter, Elizabeth "Liz" Vick and husband Gerald "J" Vick Jr.; and three grandchildren, Laura Pirello and husband Simon, Ava Resnick and husband Matt, and Gerald "G.W." Vick III. Also survived by five great- grandchildren, Tyler and Megan Pirello, and Baylor, Haydan and Peyton Resnick; two brothers, Bill Kemp and wife Bonnie, and Hill Kemp and wife Margaret; two sisters, Nell Clement and Deanie Kemp; and numerous nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by her husband, Clarence "Ed" Cockrell; brother, Roland Kemp; and sister, Carole Stevens. Visiting at Rabenhorst Funeral Home East, 11000 Florida Blvd., Thursday, Aug. 5, from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. and Friday, Aug. 6, from 9 a.m. until funeral service in the chapel at 11 a.m. Burial in Greenoaks Memorial Park.
