He was a resident of Baton Rouge and a native of Bolivar. He was born to the late Inez James and the late Willie James Coleman on Feb. 21, 1933. As a young man Albert grew up in the Bolivar community. He was known in the community as Red Bird, Fritz and Ray. He was educated in the Tangipahoa Parish School System. He joined the U.S. military and served in the Korean War. Later in his life he joined the U.S. National Guard and served until his retirement. Albert "Fritz" worked many jobs and was known by many people. He worked with the Tangipahoa Parish Sheriff's Office under Frank Edward, Hood's Motor Co., Tangipahoa Parish Counsel rural roads division and Richardson Funeral Home of Amite. Later in his life Albert married Elmeasie Walker and moved to the Baton Rouge area, where his health declined and he was placed in a nursing home until his death. He leaves to cherish his memory his wife, Elmease Coleman; three daughters and two sons-in-law, Tewana and Reginald Dyson, Sandra Coleman of Amite and Sally and Harlan Victor of Alexandria; and a son, James Wilkins. "BILL" A resident of Galvez, he passed away Wednesday, May 31, 2000. He was 69 and born in Hammond. He was a graduate of Baton Rouge High School, class of 1948. He enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps in July 1948 and fought in the Korean War for more than 18 months. He received numerous medals and ribbons, including two Purple Hearts, the Korean Service Medal with five stars, Letter of Commendation with "V", Presidential Unit Citation and a Good Conduct Medal. He was a survivor of the Chosin Reservoir Campaign of 1950. He studied architecture at LSU and was a self-employed architectural designer. He specialized in elegant custom homes in the Baton Rouge area including the Country Club of Louisiana and White Oak Landing.
