Date: August 14, 2009. Born May 7, 1921, Corozal, Puerto Rico. Son of the late Jose' Augustin and Maria Rivera Colon. Survived by his sisters, Gloria Esther Bennazar, Maria Luisa Ortiz, Agueda C. Martin, Brother of the late Angel Rafael Colon, Jose' Augustin Colon, Ana Julia Ortiz, Carmen Santiago, Placida C. Ortiz, Mercedes Rivera. Served in the Army during WWII from Dec.,1940 - Dec.,1945, and was a Guard Patrolman. He was awarded the Expert Infantryman Badge, American Theater Service Medal, World War II Victory Medal, American Defense Service Medal with Metal Clasp, European African Middle Eastern Theater Service Medal with 3 Bronze Stars, Good Conduct Medal, 7 Overseas Service Bars. He was a member of VFW Post 3652. He was a longtime member of the Club de Puerto Rico. In the 1950s he studied to become a watchmaker and worked for Gordon's Jeweler's for many years, and eventually retired from Zales Jewelers in 1986. Preceded in death by his loving wife Josephine Castrillo Colon, survived by his three daughters: Brenda C. Vogel (Eric), Cheryl C. Rodeghero, Sandra C. Whitlow (Mike), His Grandchildren: Alison W. Soileau, Stacy W. Lindsey, Laura R. Fiegel, Holly W. Sims, Eric Vogel, II, Melinda Rodeghero, Anthony Rodeghero, Arielle Vogel, Great Grandchildren: Cole and Cassidy Soileau, Brice Fiegel, Ryann Lindsey, Mia Sims, and the late Ryan D. Whitlow, and a host of nieces and nephews He was an ordained deacon and was currently a member of Westside Baptist Church, in Ponchatoula and a former member of Highland Baptist Church in Metairie, and First Baptist Church of New Orleans, LA. His sweet smile will be forever missed by all who crossed his path. "Here's to you and me." Visitation will be on Monday, at the Highland Baptist Church, 3927 Rayne St. in Metairie LA. 70001, from 10:00 a.m. until services at 12:00 p.m., interment will follow at The Garden Of Memories Cemetery.
