He was born and raised in Louisiana. He retired after 19 years as a professor in the Forestry Department at the University of Kentucky. In addition to his wife, he is survived by two daughters, Susan Conrad, Brigham City, Utah, and Becky Cox and husband Dave, Fresno, Calif.; five grandchildren, Brian and Sarah Conrad and Daniel, Abigail and Jacob Cox; and a brother, Judge L.H. Coltharp Jr., DeRidder. He received a bachelor of science degree from LSU, a master of science degree from Colorado State University and a Ph.D. from Michigan State University. He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War. He was a 50-year member of the Society of American Foresters and a member of Sigma Xi and Xi Sigma Pi. He attended Porter Memorial Baptist Church. Funeral services will be at 3 p.m. Sunday at East Fork Cemetery, Kentwood. Memorials may be made to Hospice of the Bluegrass, 2312 Alexandria Drive, Lexington, KY 40504.
