She departed this life from The Carpenter House of St. Joseph Hospice in Baton Rouge. She was 53. The favorite pastime for Dee Dee was to spend time with her five grandchildren. They were the joy of her life. Dee Dee's passion as an elementary school teacher was teaching children to read and enjoy books. Prior to teaching, Dee Dee worked in banking at three different banks, most notably 13 years at Livingston Bank where she was an assistant vice president, loan officer, and the manager of the Albany branch. Dee Dee served alongside her husband, Byron, while he was a full-time pastor for 17 years, serving at First Baptist Church of Springfield, Bluff Creek Baptist Church in Clinton, and First Baptist Church of Dequincy. They also served in an extended interim pastorate at Magnolia Baptist Church in Livingston. Dee Dee was an outstanding basketball player at Albany High School and a member of Southeastern Louisiana University's first women's basketball team. Many people have blessed Dee Dee with innumerable acts of kindness during her two-year battle with cancer. Though this is not a complete list, special gratitude is extended to Dr. Benton Dupont for his expertise and wisdom; Dr. M. Patrick Stagg of Medical Oncology for his professional excellence, compassion, and going the extra mile for Dee Dee; Aileen Brassard, R.N., N.P., for kindness, helpfulness, and caring so much; Dr. Siva Yadlapati for his visits and assistance; the entire nursing staff and office staff of Medical Oncology for very special care; the nurses on the fifth-floor oncology unit at Our Lady Of the Lake Regional Medical Center; the nurses and staff of The Carpenter House of St. Joseph Hospice who provided support, comfort, and very attentive care. We are grateful to many area churches and individuals who constantly and faithfully prayed for Dee Dee. Thanks to the faculty and staff of Walker Elementary, North Corbin Elementary and Principal Glenda Newman, the faculty and staff of Springfield High School and Principal Jody Purvis. Dee Dee is survived by her loving husband of 34 years, the Rev. W.
