Grover Cleveland Cone Jr., 62, of Loranger died Monday, Aug. 22, 2005, at North Oaks Medical Center in Hammond. He was born Thursday, Oct. 22, 1942, in Valdosta, Ga., and was employed as an independent insurance executive. He is survived by his former wife, Dorothy Cone of Independence; five daughters and three sons-in-law, Anita Michelle Bowman of Baton Rouge, Sheila Gail Freeze and Roger Freeze of Baton Rouge, Patricia Ann Cone of Loranger, Mary Alisha Davison and Joel Davison of Lincoln University, Pa., and Tara Cone Koontz and Duke Koontz of Baton Rouge; son, Grover Cleveland Cone III of Slidell; two brothers, Frank Wayne Cone of Hollister, Fla., and Luther Calvin Cone of Madison, Fla.; eight grandsons, James David Bowman Jr. of Baton Rouge, Travis Everett Freeze of Baton Rouge, Clifton Trey Cone of Loranger, Austin Taylor Cone of Slidell, Brennan Cade Cone of Hammond, Ashton Dale Koontz and James Duke Koontz Jr., both of Baton Rouge, and Benjamin Lloyd McChristian of Denham Springs; five granddaughters, Kristen Michelle Bowman of Baton Rouge, Tara Elizabeth Freeze of Baton Rouge, Jayden Nicole Cone of Slidell, Kayla Shea Davison of Lincoln University and Taylor Leigh Cone of Loranger; and former son-in-law, Jeff McChristian. He was preceded in death by his parents, Grover Cleveland Cone and Mayola Joyner Cone. Friends will be received at Harry McKneely & Son Funeral Home, Hammond, on Friday, Aug. 26, from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. and on Saturday from 8 a.m. until service at 10 a.m. Interment in Loranger Community Cemetery, Loranger.
