Father Edward Wayne Conley, O.P., a Dominican Friar of St. Martin de Porres Province, died at Our Lady of Wisdom Healthcare Center in New Orleans, Louisiana on Tuesday, February 9, 2010 at the age of 92. Born in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada, he entered the Dominican Novitiate at St. Rose Priory, Springfield, Kentucky on August 15, 1936 and ordained a priest at St. Thomas Aquinas Priory, River Forest, Illinois on June 6, 1943. In Louisiana, Father was Pastor of Holy Ghost Parish, Hammond (1964-1969), Associate Pastor of St. Dominic Parish, New Orleans (1973-1979), Pastor of St. Anthony of Padua Parish, New Orleans (1985-1993), Dean, Inner City Deanery, Archdiocese of New Orleans (1992-1993), Parochial Vicar, St. Dominic Parish (1993-2001), Prior, St. Dominic Priory, New Orleans (1994-2001) and Provincial Councillor, St. Martin de Porres Province (1997-2001). Prior assignments included, teaching at Fenwick High School, Oak Park, Illinois (1944-1954), Vicar Provincial, Province of St. Albert the Great, Chicago, Illinois (1969-1973) and assignments in Houston, Texas and River Forest, Illinois. Father was preceded in death by his parents, May Mary Graham Conley and Wayne W. Conley and a sister, Helen Conley Kadlec. He is survived by a sister, Sister M. Micheas Conley, O.P. and nephews, Pat and Mike Kadlec. The Office of the Dead will be prayed at Our Lady of Wisdom Healthcare Chapel, 5600 Gen DeGaulle Drive, New Orleans, Louisiana 70131 on Thursday, February 18, 2010 at 6:00 P.M.
