He was a retired lifelong truck driver. He was born Monday, Nov. 30, 1931, in Waterproof, son of the late Earl Geiger and Dona Mitchell Cooley. Surviving are his son, Gregory E. Cooley Sr.; daughter-in-law, Vickie Butler Cooley; two grandsons, Gregory E. Cooley Jr. and Travis Will Cooley; sister, Nell Lloyd; brother-in-law, Car Lloyd; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by four brothers, Ward, Duke, Barron and Harry Cooley; and four sisters, Tommie Lee, Lona Beaver, Nona Wheeler and Earle McGee. Friends will be received at Harry McKneely & Son Funeral Home in Hammond on Monday, March 6, from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. and on Tuesday, March 7, from 8 a.m. until religious service at 10 a.m. with the Rev. Howard Turner officiating. Interment will follow in the Evergreen Cemetery, Woodville, Miss., with the assistance of Newman Funeral Home. His life was spirited, his will was strong, he lived it his way, with God now he belongs.
