Dr. Allan Bertrand Cooper Sr., 74, of Hattiesburg, Miss., died Friday, March 11, 2011, at his home under the care of his family and the loving staff of Hospice of Forrest General Hospital, to which the family is very grateful. Dr. Cooper was the founder of Cooper Eye Clinic. He was dedicated to his profession in optometry. He was a member of the Louisiana State Association of Optometrists and served as president of the association in 1981. He was also a member of the New Orleans Contact Lens Society. He was an avid outdoorsman who loved hunting, fishing and boating. He was an active parishioner of St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church. He also was a recipient of a successful liver transplant three years ago from a loving donor. He was preceded in death by his parents, Daniel and Bertha Cooper; and a brother, David Kenneth Cooper. Her surviving family sat at North Oaks Medical Center by her side as our Heavenly Father prepared a special place for her in Heaven. It was completed on April 8, 2013 at 12:55 a.m. As everyone said their bitter sweet farewells for now, we can rest assured that we will meet her again someday on the streets of gold. Her most precious jewels were her great grandchildren, Camryn St. Alexandre, Jaime Travis, Holli Davis, Alyssa Travis, Maggie Green, Allie LaFontaine, Samantha St. Alexandre, and Dylan Davis, and her sister, Mary Trabona, along with numerous nieces and nephews. Visitation will be at Spring Creek Baptist Church from 6 p.m. until 10 p.m. on Tuesday and from 9 a.m. until Celebration of Life Services at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, April 10, 2013. Services conducted by Dr. Danny Smith. Interment will be at Spring Creek Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Spring Creek Baptist Church Chair Fund. Fay was born Monday, March 27, 1933 in Ponchatoula. Mama Fay was the backbone of her familys faith, she was strong in her community, a prayer warrior who lived life to glorify God. Not only did she raise her own children, grandchildren and great- grandchildren she helped any child in the community by babysitting and helping to raise. Surviving are three daughter and sons-in-law, Phyllis Fay and Thomas Lenard, Carla and Reaford McKee, Loretta L. and Jason Perkins; two daughters, Peggy Louise Cooper and Mollie JoAnn Cooper; three sons and daughters-in-law, Charles E. and Carolyn Cooper, Richard I. and Sharon Cooper and Travis L. and Darlene Cooper; two sisters, Mabel Odelia Vernevil and Leatrice Althea Pierce; Fifty Grand and Great Grandchildren.
